Is Toolbox cheaper than Loom?

On its own, it's close. Loom Business billed monthly costs a little more than Toolbox Premium's yearly plan works out to, and a little less than Premium billed monthly, and Loom has a free plan for light use. Toolbox clearly pays off when you also pay for a PDF editor, a screenshot tool, a link shortener or a text expander: one subscription covers all of them. Use the calculator above with what you actually pay.

Can I share a recording with a link, like in Loom?

Yes, with Toolbox Premium or Pro. Choose Share link in the recorder: it uploads while you record, and when you stop, the link is already on your clipboard. Viewers watch in their browser with speed control and full screen, and you can add a password or an expiry date or turn downloads off. Saved one to your computer instead? Share it afterwards from the recorder or the side panel, or drop any MP4, MOV or WebM into your Toolbox library for a link. On the free plan, recordings are saved to your computer as MP4 or WebM.

Can viewers comment on my recordings?

Yes. Viewers leave comments at a moment of the video and react with emoji, and both show up as markers on the timeline; anyone can jump to a comment from there. Commenters sign in, or you can let guests comment under a name. You can reply, delete any comment, or turn comments off for a link, and your Toolbox library shows what's new, who watched and how much of it they saw.

Does Toolbox transcribe my recordings?

Yes. Every recording you share gets a transcript a minute or so after you stop, in the language you spoke. Viewers can turn on captions, read and search the transcript and click a line to jump there, and download it as .vtt, .srt or .txt. You can fix a word the transcript got wrong, and search your library by what was said.

Do my recordings get uploaded anywhere?

Only the ones you share. With Share link, the recording is uploaded to your Toolbox cloud so its link works, and so is a video you upload to your library; with Save to computer, it's made in your browser and saved straight to your Downloads folder, and never goes to our servers unless you share it later.

Can I record my camera and microphone?

Yes. Show your camera as a bubble in a corner, pick its size and shape, or record the camera on its own. Pick your microphone, watch its level and mute it at any time.

Is Toolbox free?

Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like full-page captures and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds signatures, Office conversions and bookmark cleanups on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
