Switching from Session Buddy

Move your Session Buddy collections to Toolrail.
One subscription for the whole stack.

Export your collections from Session Buddy as a JSON file, drop it into Toolrail, and each collection becomes a saved session with its windows and tabs. Sessions are kept in your account, so they're on every browser you sign in to. Tabs & sessions is one tool in a side panel that also has a screen recorder, full-page screenshots and short links.

Every tool has a free planImport free, up to 25 sessionsPremium from $20/month, no free-plan limits

Who it's for

Made for you if…

  • You save your windows as collections to restore them later.
  • You want your saved sessions on more than one computer.
  • You pay for several browser tools and want one subscription.

Move from Session Buddy to Toolrail

Each collection as a saved session, with its windows, tabs and pinned tabs.

  1. In Session Buddy, click the gear icon and choose Export.
  2. Choose all collections or the ones you selected, pick JSON as the format, and save the file.
  3. In Toolrail, open Tabs & sessions on the web, press Import and drop the file.
  4. Check how many sessions and tabs it found, then import.

What comes over

  • Each collection, as a saved session with its name
  • Its windows, with every tab's address and title
  • Pinned tabs, still pinned

What doesn't

  • Session Buddy's history: its export covers saved collections only
  • Tab groups: their tabs come over without the group
Import from Session Buddy You'll see what comes over before anything is added.
What to expect

Tabs & sessions in Toolrail, next to Session Buddy

Where Toolrail is as good or better, and where it's different. Where Session Buddy does more, we say so.

Different

  • The free plan keeps 25 saved sessions; Premium removes the limit.
  • Toolrail needs a free account, since that's where your sessions are kept.

Questions

Something else? Write to us from the Contact link below.

Which export format should I pick?

JSON. It's the one that keeps each collection's windows and pinned tabs.

What if I have more than 25 collections?

The free plan keeps 25 saved sessions, so the importer brings in the first ones that fit and says how many didn't. Premium removes the limit.

Does my Session Buddy history come over?

No. Session Buddy's export covers saved collections only. Toolrail starts its own snapshots of your windows once it's installed.

Is Toolrail free?

Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like share links and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds signatures, Office conversions and bookmark cleanups on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
